Water is the force that rules our world. There is no life without it. In this series, Intimate Portraits of Water, we enter the world of water in a way that most never see. There is a Zen moment of tranquility when photographing water. It is fascinating to sit in one spot and photograph that same spot for many minutes at a time, and every image is different. What is beneath the surface (or riding on it) provides the color and diversity, the refraction of daylight on the ever-moving water gives life.
Every image is different due to the moving water.
The colors of rocks, leaves, sand etc. dictate the fascinating colors captured in the water.
Close up, shadows/ dark areas under the water make it look black
A single leaf can transform these close ups of water.
The water is always changing. Barely caught this red leaf as it floated through the “Black Water”
Part of the “Inspirati Terra Mater” Series (Inspired by the Earth Mother)
Monochromatic brings out the lines, shapes and bubbles caught in the frozen ice.

Panoramic made from an image do give more of the dynamic linear quality in the water
Because most things in that evening light are transformed in mood when made black and white.
A series of images captured on the Arkansas River in Pueblo in the evening. Loved the little differences
Taken at sunset on the Arkansas River in Pueblo.
Water and ice make the best abstract photographs.
Close up on the ice reveal the crystal snow flakes within, and even though it is cold, the colors beneath the surface color our world.
Bubbles are frozen in the ice as water rushes below.
Frozen and ever moving, ever changing.
There is another universe just below the surface.
Reflections and shapes of the water around the stems are intriguing.
